'Milk' Poster Builds Strong Bones

Trolling Trailer Addict this afternoon, I spied a new poster for Milk, the upcoming bio-pic of the late San Francisco politician Harvey Milk.

Milk was the first admitted homosexual elected to a significant political post in the U.S., and he was later gunned down by a rival named Dan White. Sean Penn will play Milk in Gus Van Sant's film, with Josh Brolin in the role of White. How Dan White received a voluntary manslaughter conviction for this crime (actually a double murder, since he also killed San Francisco mayor George Moscone) is beyond me.

Milk was far from perfect, though; he was a big Jim Jones supporter, as were many of his political associates. I wonder if the world's largest mass suicide will be mentioned in the movie. It should be.

Here's the poster for the film, which isn't quite as compelling as the trailer.

Milk opens on December 5th.
