Teresa Palmer Joins Nic Cage's 'Sorcerer's Apprentice'

If you saw Bedtime Stories, you might have had the same reaction a lot of us did to Teresa Palmer, who plays a Paris Hilton-type socialite and hotel heiress in the film. "Wow," we thought, "she's very pretty. Why do I know that name?" The reason you might know the name is that the Australian-born beauty was believed at one point to be cast in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and that rumor floated around for a while. Months earlier, Palmer was also linked to the role of Wonder Woman in the Justice League movie, and that didn't happen either, for various reasons. Oh yeah, and if they ever do make that move, her name's been moved from Wonder Woman to Talia Al Ghul. Bedtime Stories isn't a big consolation prize, but the movie's done OK, people have seen her now, and she's getting the call to the big leagues: Jerry Bruckheimer has cast Palmer opposite Nic Cage and Jay Baruchel in a live action reading of The Sorcerer's Apprentice, the famed Mickey Mouse cartoon from Fantasia. She's playing Baruchel's love interest, which is so totally not like it was in high school for either one of them. The Bruck is producing and Jon Turtletaub (National Treasure) is directing. The story will be moved to New York somehow, offering a modern spin on it? I don't know how that will work exactly, but that's what one synopsis says. I'm not saying this is going to launch her career or anything, but let's remember a mostly-unknown Keira Knightley in Pirates and another young Aussie in Days of Thunder. Ask yourself about the big American movies Kate Beckinsale made before Pearl Harbor. He's done it before.
