Two-Face (Rumors) Alive and Well

Perhaps I'm not hearing straight, but to me, this video doesn't sound anything at all like a hint from Aaron Eckhart that there will be more Two-Face in the Batman series.

Clearly, if Eckhart's on the red carpet, you have to ask him about The Dark Knight this year. So MTV is just doing its job, asking Eckhart if Harvey Dent is really dead.

Now, the actor has gone on record saying, yes, the character's dead. He's over. You won't see him again. His answer on the Golden Globes red carpet is getting such tasty headlines as "'The Dark Knight’ Star Aaron Eckhart Hints At Possible Return Of Two-Face," and "'Dark Knight's Two-Face May Not Be Dead."

Watch the answer for yourself. To me, it comes across as Eckhart just not wanting to answer the question he's heard a million times already and is trying to phrase the same answer a different way. Maybe there's more to it, but personally, based on what he says and not the uncomfortable laughter, it doesn't sound like he's leaving the door open.

Now, apparently, Christopher Nolan and his crew are discussing where to take the third film, the biggest target for casting gossip in many years. We've been consistent on them all: It's not happening, or at least, it hasn't happened yet. The name Eckhart spills - Jolie, Depp - are just the most popular choices online for characters that aren't in the movie yet and may not be in it at all.

As for Two-Face, if he's in the third movie, that just makes The Dark Knight weaker, and it already bungled the Harvey Dent story arc by racing to a conclusion at the end. If he's alive in the threequel, why kill him in the second movie? That suddenly makes very little sense to me.

I'm still rooting for Black Mask.

The door was really only left open for the joker, which, based on precedent would mean a possible cameo in a third movie, much like Scarecrow had in the second (which I totally dug). But Nolan is in a hard-place because his joker died in real life...

Still, I think people should be talking about who would replace Ledger for a cameo in B3, a trick that would work well because of the way TDK was written, both with the recasting of Rachel Dawes, AND The Joker's dialogue regarding his history.

One thing is perfectly clear these days though, and that's that people can't wait to see more Batman Adventures. So get crack-a-lacking DC and Warner!

here's a stupid idea:

make the 3rd film with any villain, make some millions, then come back for a 4th and final movie, with Jack Nicholson, and show what really happened to the Joker, as in Return of the Joker, in Batman of the Future...

at least would make some billions, too

I thought about it some more today, and decided that I like the idea of an older joker coming back to mess with Batman. Maybe it's 'cause his face is everywhere today, but Micky Rourke might just have the face/craziness to pull it off...
