Weekend Recap: Globes, 'Watchmen,' Russell Crowe Rumors
Monday, January 12, 2009 at 5:43AM
In addition to the Golden Globes, there were a few big headlines that made waves over the weekend. One, regarding Russell Crowe and Nottingham, I think is completely phony, but others are closer to being legitimate news, like the warring Watchmen studios talking it out, and Nicole Kidman hating her own work in Australia.
Here's the rundown from a pretty busy weekend:
Watchmen talks "productive" between Warner and Fox
Danny Elfman to score Terminator Salvation
Speaking of Terminator, Michael Bay says it's copying Transformers
Sin City 2, anyone? Harvey? Harvey?
...In which we take aim at some silly report on Page Six about Russell Crowe wanting to have Ridley Scott fired
Check out this trailer: It's called Franklyn, and it's pretty stellar
Nicole Kidman's right: She was terrible in Australia
The Golden Globes
Now for some stories we didn't cover this weekend: Simon Pegg wants you...to stay away from his DVD (Film JunK) 3-D coming to your living room (Variety) News on the Ghostbusters Blu-Ray (High Def Digest) Nine reasons George Lucas should retire (Sci Fi Wire) Great cast assembled for Peter Weir's The Way Back (Variety)

Anyone else notice that Warner has been aggressively marketing Watchmen during the football playoffs? Were these commercials in the pipeline, or are they effectively spitting in Fox's litigious face?
