Eva Longoria Denies 'Avengers' Rumors

...And exhale. We can all breathe a sigh of relief that this little item has turned out to not be true. Several months back, Eva Longoria-Parker was photographed leaving the Marvel Studios offices, carrying copies of The Avengers comic book under her arm. At the time, it was rumored that she was pitching herself for the role of Wasp in the 2011 Avengers movie.

Think about it: Desperate Housewives will certainly be running on fumes by that point and Longoria will be closing in the big four-oh, with very little film success to show for it. Hitching your wagon to a Marvel movie is a great life support system right now, so you certainly couldn't blame her for giving it a shot, even if it's far from ideal to the fanboy set.
But now Longoria denies she's interested or involved in the project, telling Ryan Seacrest on the Globes red carpet the rumors are "not true." She did add that she'd love to play a role in the film if the opportunity presented itself. Certainly, she did a better job shooting the rumor down than Aaron Eckhart did the resurrection of Two-Face, but they've got to cast someone for Wasp sooner than later. I wonder what direction they'll wind up going?
I'm not sure I'd want Longoria playing Wasp, even though it's definitely a supporting role, but with this film flying into theaters in two years, this case better come together pretty quickly. So who'd make a better Wasp? I'm going to throw out Lizzy Caplan's name just for the hell of it.
