Fox Cancels 'Prison Break'
Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 1:14PM
Fox has slammed the cell door on Prison Break. The network announced today that this is the final season for the show, which will be seen beginning April 17th on Friday nights in the slot currently occupied by Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

"The show is just played out," Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter. "Creatively everybody feels enough stories have been told ... we want to finish strong and not just give out next season."
Reilly hinted that while the show has "a cool ending," there may be a couple extra episodes tacked on this year, to really wrap things up. Those episodes have not yet been shot, which I think displays a little more faith in the series and its fans than Fox even has to show at this point, what with the axe swinging and all.
Fox is trying to salvage three shows on Friday nights: The terminally-suffering Terminator, the new Dollhouse, and Prison Break. The hope is that since Friday is such a weak night for the networks, attacking it head-on - the way Fox once did with The X-Files early in its run - could give the struggling shows bigger ratings.
Not that it will help Prison Break at this point.

Prison break was done after season one, because they had broken out of the prison.
Prison Break is good enough to watch while waiting for the next season of 24..
