More Mickey Rourke! Here's the 'Killshot' Trailer
Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 6:35AM
They tell me that Phoenix is the first market getting Killshot, the new Elmore Leonard adaptation starring freshly minted Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke. Maybe it's opening in a few other locations at the same time, but since I'm in Phoenix, it's still good news for me. I'm actually seeing this movie later today, and it opens on January 23rd locally before expanding out into other markets, which I'm sure will be determined by its early performance.

We called it a "new" Elmore Leonard adaptation, and that's not really true; the movie's almost three years old. And with the talent on board - director John Madden (Shakespeare in Love), Diane Lane, Tom Jane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Rosario Dawson - you have to think something's out of whack for this to be on the shelf so long.
It's easy to imagine that the film is just not that good, but there could've been money issues with the distributor or other problems completely unrelated to the quality of the finished product. Here's a trailer for Killshot, which certainly doesn't make it look like a movie that belonged in the deep freeze for a few years.

Killshot hits a few theaters next weekend, and then...we'll see, I guess.

Why are you calling this MICKEY ROURKE's "KILLSHOT". It is just as much DIANE LANE's as MICKEY'S. She is excellent in this film and has the lead role.
Why no love for Diane Lane!? No wonder she quit. You guys can't help overlook her!!!
I never called it Mickey Rourke's anything. He has, however, been cast in two high-profile movies in seven days and won a Golden Globe. So his newsworthiness right now is undeniable. Perhaps in your overreaction, you overlooked that. Perhaps you also overlooked that Rourke has considerably more screentime in Killshot than Diane Lane or anyone else, for that matter.
here i thought Mickey Rourke would never show up in public again, and there he was, winning big at the Golden Globes
