Joaquin Phoenix: Don't Quit Your Day Job

Hey, you know what sucks? Joaquin Phoenix rapping.

The two-time Oscar nominee announced his retirement from acting a couple months ago, surprising quite a few people. The switch to pursuing a music career was perhaps a natural move at some point, or at least it is for any number of actors. The rap thing is a big shock, and we learned a couple of days ago that Puff Daddy will produce Phoenix's first CD, and that Joaq's brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, will direct a documentary about the new direction.

And judging by this video of his debut performance last night in Las Vegas, the documentary will be a comedy.

I'd much rather listen to Paris Hilton's album.

This is just depressing...

The guy, who is a talented actor, has obviously had a nervous breakdown.

If he has any real friends, they should look after him and keep him out of the public eye until he's feeling better.

What a joke. He'll be acting again within 2 years if not sooner. The sad thing is...for a while, there will be plenty of folks telling him what an awesome "artist" he is. Beards, funky hats, shades and telling people you're an artist...does not an artist make. Get over yourself Joaquin.

When is Hollywood going to realize that it's alot easier to be a "decent" actor than it is to be a "decent" musician/songwriter?

Is there any chance he's gone Borat on us, creating this career change just to make a movie?
