Michael Cera Says 'Arrested Development' Movie "Hypothetical"
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 8:00PM
Michael Cera is attending the Sundance Film Festival, which is no big surprise. After all, he's one of the cool kids of independent film at the moment, and he has a new movie screening there this week called Paper Heart.

MTV took the opportunity to ask Cera about another movie, however, the one that he seems to be avoiding for some reason. We all want an Arrested Development movie. Actually, that may not be entirely true. But fans of the landmark/short-lived Fox sitcom want something more from the Bluth family, and a movie makes the most sense.
But ever since creator Mitch Hurwitz, producer and narrator Ron Howard, and cast members Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Jeffrey Tambor have been saying the project is moving forward and it's only a matter of time, Cera has said he's not sure a movie's such a good idea. And now he clarifies his position to MTV, kind of.
"There's no script or anything, so the movie, I think, is more hypothetical than people think," says the show's breakout star. "I'd possibly play [George Michael Bluth], I'd possibly put the script in my shredder (laughs). I may buy a shredder."
But when asked if he likes being the lone dissenter among the cast and crew, Cera gives a more diplomatic response. "People have asked me about it more than I've heard about it [in an official capacity]," he says, but I'd be very interested to see what the story is with it."
Wouldn't we all?
Is there another way to get that one last shot from Arrested Development that I'm missing? A movie seems to be the best option, would raise the most awareness, and would give us the most Bluth for our money. Is it too late to go back, or is it not soon enough? And could it go on without George Michael? I expect if it did, there would be a great many inside jokes about it in the film.

He needs to remember where he came from. And if he doesn't want to do it, that's fine. George Michael is the least funny character.
thats bullcrap, they could do it without him, but he is definitely not the least funny character.
Whatever movie I see this one-trick pony in I see George Michael. Sorry, but he's NEVER really stopped doing the George Michael schtick. If you want to see George Michael rent Superbad or Juno. Who needs him? I hope there's a movie without the little creep.
Him?
hahaha
I'm not worried, he'll do it. His reputation depends on it
i hope Egg is in it
