And the Razzie Goes To...

The Razzie nominations were announced today, in keeping with the tradition of falling just before the Academy Awards whenever it matters. As you probably know, these aren't the awards you really go for if you're in the movie business, since they highlight the worst of the worst.

The big "winners" appear to be The Love Guru, Uwe Boll, and Paris Hilton. Mike Myers' atrocity is up for seven Golden Raspberries, while Hilton pulled the Kate Winslet, receiving nominations for Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress. Well done! Uwe Boll, in addition to taking home the career achievement award, picked up three other additional nominations, as did his films, effectively tying him with Myers for inflicting the most pain on moviegoers in 2008.

A few weeks ago, we had the Razzies shortlist, and now they've culled that list down, scraping through the bottom of the barrel. Here are the official nominees:

I don't understand how You Don't Mess With the Zohan isn't on here. I mean, I didn't see The Love Guru, but I swear I nearly left the theatre when I went to Zohan. And I also feel like I should explain that the only reason I even went was because I didn't have to pay. But god, it was awful. I've never wanted to leave a movie so badly in my life.

...Then see The Love Guru. It improves Zohan quite a bit.

Hilton was actually kind of okay in Repo. No where near as bad as some of the others, closer to middling. Also why didn't Disaster movie get more noms? The world may never know.

Well, if it's really that bad, I'm not sure I wanna sit through it...

Just noticed something else. What do they have against Kingsley? I get Love Guru and haven't seen War Inc.But he was great in the Wackness. His best performance in a while.

How can The Happening be considered one of the worst movies, directing, and screenplay? Even though I can see why people might not like it, I actually did, but it's really no where near as bad as some of the crap that came out this past year. Zohan is a great example of pure garbage missing from that list. The House Bunny is missing which is insanely shocking. Didn't see Rambo but I can only guess it's one of the worst of the past 20 yrs not just 2008.
And with this one most will disagree, but in my opinion Wanted should be on this list also. Overrated piece of cheesy crap with overused and distasteful vulgarity and violence. Not to mention the curving bullets thing, they could have done without doing it 2 thousand times in under 2 hours.

speed racer, I watched that on blue ray, my eyes were about to explode from the lights, but that movie was boring.

I thought everyone loved The Wackness...
I think Disaster Movie should win everything, hands down, kick all their asses.
And to all The Happening supporters: I'm with you. I liked it =/

They should lay off Burt Reynolds. The guy is a legend and the only reason he is being nominated is because of Uwe Boll. I just recently got Reynolds as the voice on my GPS because the guy is such a legend. i got it from a company called something like Nav-tones. They do real celebs for GPS, I have the real Burt Reynolds (and Mr. T).

Anyway, Uwe Boll is a bad man and should be ashamed for making Burt work for him~

Hey I called Uwe Boll for a lifetime achievement award on the previous post. great to see it become a reality, sadly I don't think he's anywhere close to the end of his career. I'm waiting for him to team up with C. Thomas Howell to create the worst movie ever.

Camerin Diaz SO didn't deserve her nomination; even you have to admit Eva Longoria-Whatever was FAR worse in Over Her Dead Body (the WORST perf. of any actress in 2008, Paris Hilton included!)...also, how does Ben Kingsley get nominated for War, Inc. but not the always-wretched Hilary Duff? And do the Razzies even know Martin Lawrence exists? If so, ho does he keep getting passed over for his crappy work? ;(>
