...This is a color presentation of NBS Nightly News.

A new viral video has popped up for Watchmen, featuring a 1970 news report about the announcement by the military ten years earlier acknowledging the existence of Dr. Manhattan ("Superman exists. And he's American.").
It's a little Dharma Initiative in its execution, but the phony news report is remarkably well done. If it wasn't about a blue superhero from a movie that was being released in six weeks, you'd probably think it was the genuine article.
I suppose we'll get more things like this between now and March 6th - seems a shame to build the set and hire the bad newsmen for one three-minute shot - so perhaps we'll see some stuff that counts us up to the mid-80s, when all hell breaks loose in the story.

For me, one of the fun things I keep in mind when I look at Watchmen is that they were originally meant to be Alan Moore's radical rethinking of the Charlton superhero stable, until DC decided that they wanted to give Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, The Question and others a longer shelf life. Come to think, it was the rending of Captain Atom that set off Kingdom Come.
