Dakota Fanning to be Fanged for 'Twilight' Sequel?

Is little Dakota Fanning about to join the cast of New Moon? Marc Malkin from the most common vowel says that Fanning is in negotiations to play Jane in the Twilight sequel, which will be in production this spring.

For several reasons, this makes a lot of sense. Fanning is no longer the girl from I Am Sam; She'll be 15 in a month, so that puts her squarely in the age range we're looking for. Twilight fans have already started an online petition for producers to cast her in the role. And there aren't many actresses better, more experienced, or more well known in her age group.

The one sticking point, to me, is that we just saw a Variety article about the pay grade for actors in Hollywood right now, which noted that New Moon centerpieces Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson weren't going to get the deals they were originally set to. It would be in the low seven figures, according to the Variety piece, which was significantly lower than what was reported in November and December, a fraction of the salaries, in fact.

How that affects Fanning is simple: She's already in the million dollar club, so she'd be asked to work for below her rate on a movie that will probably be her biggest hit ever. That might explain why Malkin's source says, "They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth."

Wayyy to much money for not a very cute actress. Some talent but I wouldnt pay more to see her as Jane, thats for sure.
Hope they dont overpay her. Seriously. If Stewart and Pattinson, who make the movie, took lower pay, the tradeoff is huge for the bankability factor in their future.

Not so with Fanning, who, looking at the pics recently, isnt growing into a very cute young lady...
