Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 4:03AM Barrymore Wants More 'Charlie's Angels'
As a wise beer commercial once instructed us: Know when to say when. While performing her promotional duties for the upcoming He's Just Not That Into You, Drew Barrymore told the fifth letter of the alphabet that she'd like to see another Charlie's Angels movie one day.

"I'm so into it," enthused the always upbeat Barrymore. "I'm so into it - Charlie's Angels 3!"
One would imagine it would reunite Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu, and it would be at least seven years between installments in the franchise. Neither film was particularly well received, although you'd have to be a moron not to prefer the first one. And I'm not sure how lucrative they were for the studio; neither film exceeded 300% of its budget, and the second one barely doubled its production costs worldwide. You could get away with that in 2000 and 2003, but in 2009 or '10, that may not be enough of a return on investment.
They were hits but they didn't perform as well as blockbusters today are expected to perform.
That doesn't seem to be an obstacle for Barrymore's Flower Productions, with Drew's producing partner Nancy Juvonen confirming that the trilogy is not just a pipe dream. "It's percolating up," she says.
I could see this if Diaz had been able to justify her ridiculous salaries (she has one hit since the first Charlie's Angels), or if Barrymore and Liu had been the least bit reliable (they haven't). If they can sacrifice their incomes or otherwise cut corners on the production costs, then this seems like a reunion tour of sorts, and those haven't been unsuccessful over the past few years. But if the series was so out of ideas by the second film, part three just might be a complete waste of time.

Mr. Colin Boyd,
Can anyone tell me why the Phoenix Comicon is in Mesa?
I think the best way to approach this, because it is a Vanity Project, is to have a younger group of Angels come in. Lets start with Megan Fox and go from there...maybe Jessica Biel and Rachel McAdams to round out the trio.
I like Rachel McAdams for her brains.
Barrymore and the girls can be back in some capacity. I see it going down like this: Barrymore is now the leader of "the next gen angels", while Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz have become disgruntled and are now involved in some kind of criminal racket that involves makeup factories and bunny rabbits.
In this scenario, Barrymore can remain the tough yet firm sweetheart, while Liu can resurrect O Ren Ishii and Cameron DIaz can play the bi*** she perfected in Very Bad Things.
Consequently, Ms. Fox also has a problem with her bikini always falling off...
Hiding underneath twelve pounds of Borg Makeup, this has been American Wilson.
