Rumor Patrol: Megan Fox as Lara Croft

Some rumors become rumors because they're so far out of the mainstream that people have to talk about them. Other rumors become rumors because they make too much sense to ignore. Like all the Batman casting noise that has zero basis in reality, I don't think there's anything concrete to this one, although it makes too much sense to ignore.

Since she's already being branded as a kind of Angelina version 2.0, it wasn't going to take too many years for Megan Fox to be linked to Tomb Raider. Jolie will never play Lara Croft again. That's a young woman's game there. But Fox is arguably a star on the rise. I say arguably because she has yet to prove she can open anything; Transformers is hardly her success and How to Lose Friends and Alienate People was a commercial disaster.

The European site MeriStation (via PSXExtreme) says that Fox is on board for a new installment of the Lara Croft series, although no director is attached. There's also no plan to make the film, so far as I know, although they're still releasing video games starring the unstoppable action heroine.

I'm not sure I trust Fox with a franchise yet, and I'm really unsure that she can capture the action effectively (she pretty much just runs around in Transformers). Beyond that, however, of course it makes sense to connect Fox to the character. But will they ever make another Tomb Raider movie? I'm leaning towards no at this point.

what? are you crazy? she looks nothing like angelina jolie. this broad is beyond hideous and I'm really not looking forward to the possibility of movies casting her in a ton of movies. She's an awful actor and I could compare her looks to those of an armadillo.
