Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 7:10PM Video Game Flick 'Lost Planet' to Cost $200 Million
Let me throw a number at you: $200 million. You could make 13 Slumdog Millionaires or ten Slumdogs, two Junos, and a Burn After Reading. Or you could make one Lost Planet.

Capcom's Toshihiro Tokumaru, discussing the upcoming Street Fighter flick, said in an online PR interview with the company that a film version of the game Lost Planet "will cost somewhere between 150 and 200 million dollars to make. The producer on the project is Avi Arad, producer of Spider-Man.
No offense to fans of the game, but do we still believe that a $200 million start-up is the best idea? It's not as if this is one of the top selling video games ever, so there's going to need to be a lot of people interested beyond the die hard fans of the game. If not, that's a lot of money to flush down the toilet, don't you think?
I say that not because I'm down on the game as a game but how it translates to a movie. Picture the ice planet Hoth. For two hours. That's not an easy sell, unless you're a fan of the game. So hopefully, Capcom can recognize that the figure they're working with is way too much. There are no stars attached yet and no director, although David Hayter is writing the script. Apparently with smelted platinum.

200 million dollars buys a hell of a lot of fake snow though, don't it?
Oops confused gears of war with this game.
This is a horrible idea, it's an ok game with an ok premise not even a fan following like gears. This will be a huge bomb.
