Here's a little tidbit from Jerry Bruckheimer about The Lone Ranger, which comes
to us from a chat the producer held with Latino Review. The Bruck is one of the most successful movie
producers around right now, which for my money makes him one of the most successful producers ever. The
reason? There's more competition. It's easier to have massive hits when there are fewer obstacles in your
way.

But Bruckheimer has learned from his mistakes and because of that, you won't see too many films with his
name attached that haven't made money. Case in point: His upcoming Confessions of a Shopaholic, which
probably doesn't seem like something he'd do. But just watch it triple its budget.
The Lone Ranger would present its own set of problems if Bruckheimer hadn't already cast Johnny Depp
as Tonto, which should help pack a few theaters. And maybe that allows him to be a little looser with the
story. The producer says, "I think it'll have a supernatural element to it. It's the same writers as
Pirates and it'll have a similar kind of thing to it."
Supernatural? Interesting, so long as they don't get too over their heads with it.
And there's that persistent rumor that George Clooney will be playing the masked man, which Bruckheimer
refutes. "We don't know. We have a script. We haven't given it to anyone. We're still working on it," he
says.
I could see Clooney in the role, although for some reason I'd prefer he not do it. But you can't ask for a
lot more than Clooney and Depp if you're a movie fan.
