New Poster for 'State of Play' with Russell Crowe
Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 10:33PM
I believe I've said this before, but I preferred the original duo at the top of
State of Play, the upcoming political thrilla from Last King of Scotland director Kevin Macdonald. A
year ago or so, this was going to be Pitt and Norton. Always a good choice.
As it stands, the film - which is a remake of a BBC miniseries - will star Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck. Crowe plays a reporter in search of the truth behind the death of a politician's mistress. Affleck plays a guy with a hot dog stand. OK, no, he's playing the politican.

The film shows up in theaters on April 17th.

I'm puzzled by Mr. Affleck's insistence to be in front of the camera, as he much more likable these days, behind it.
He's fine when he's not shouldering the load by himself. If he's not Daredevil, he can do OK. Not great, usually, but OK.
I think you'll all be pleasantly surprised by Ben's performance in this film. I loved every minute of it.
Thanks for posting the new poster, Colin!
