David Fincher Completely Dismisses 'Se7en' Sequel
Monday, January 5, 2009 at 11:48AM
I suppose we should thank our lucky stars that David Fincher responded so emphatically to a question about making a sequel to Se7en. Now, how that's even remotely possible, I have no idea. Well, I guess maybe I do; you could go the copycat killer route.

Cinema Blend reports that while speaking at a question and answer session for another Brad Pitt movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fincher shot down the notion rather succinctly: It won't happen.
"I would have less interest in that than I would in having cigarettes put out in my eyes," Fincher said.
It's probably not out of hatred for the original that Fincher feels that way about a sequel, although he did apparently tell the Lincoln Center crowd that there are parts of that film and Fight Club he can't tolerate, but that's probably true of any director as committed as Fincher is. More than likely, he just doesn't want to move in reverse.
Then again, his mind has been occupied with serial killers since Se7en, with last year's Zodiac and the upcoming comic book adaptation, Ness, starring Matt Damon as Elliot Ness on the trail of Cleveland's Torso Murderer.
