Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 7:27AM Second 'Fantastic Mr. Fox' Trailer a Big Improvement
Perhaps reactions like mine to the first trailer for Fantastic Mr. Fox did not fall on deaf ears. Everything we've seen since then has been made of gold, and the new trailer looks like it's for another film altogether.

You probably know the particulars by now: Wes Anderson doing a stop-motion animation adaptation of the Roald Dahl novel, George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and Bill Murray in the cast. But for whatever reason, the first trailer just seemed dissonant somehow. But it's a quirky, funny concept, about a well-meaning, hard working fox fighting the system, which in this case is three farmers he steals food from in order to feed his family. And then the farmers try to kill him. Fun for the whole family!
Anyway, the new trailer is much closer to the tone of what the movie should be, and the stop-motion looks incredible. So now we're cookin':

Fantastic Mr. Fox - to which we had previously and erroneously attributed a "The" - opens on the crowded Thanksgiving weekend. But this trailer won't hurt its performance.

My only issue with this are the back patting narration bits and the unnecessary jab at Pixar. I get that it's marketing shtick but let the work stand or fall on its own. This is a better trailer than the initial offering and it would've been better without the added hype.
