Director Named for Sequel to 'Mirrors'

It was first announced that Fox was working on a sequel to Mirrors, the 2008 horror flick directed by Alexandre Aja and starring Kiefer Sutherland. That film did better than you probably would think, and that's why Fox believes there's more money to be made here.

However, we know Sutherland won't be back, and because he's not writing it - and he's always written what he's directed - we assumed Aja wouldn't be in the running to direct. Now Bloody Disgusting confirms our suspicions, saying that Víctor García will run the sequel.

Who's that guy? Well, unless you saw Return to the House on Haunted Hill, you probably aren't familiar with his work. So you're probably not familiar with his work.

There's also a synopsis for the sequel, which goes a little something like this:

"After losing his fiancee in a car crash, for which he blames himself, suicidal Max Matheson reluctantly takes a job as a night watchman at his father's Mayflower Department Store. When his co-workers are killed off in gruesome and horrible ways and Max begins to see a mysterious young woman in all the store's mirrors, desperate to communicate with him, he fears he's losing his mind, or that he may be the next victim."

The film shoots this fall, so it could be in theaters at the end of next summer, although this smells like a DVD-only production to me.
