Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 7:39AM Cool New Poster for the Vampire Movie 'Daybreakers'
I really dug the first trailer we saw for the futuristic vampire movie Daybreakers, which will open in January, far enough away stylistically and chronologically from New Moon to hopefully make an impression.

I'm a sucker for where storytellers put their vampires, part of the reason I loved Timur Bekmambetov's Night Watch so much. We know so much about them because vampires have been so pervasive in our popular culture, so it's always cool to see a repositioning of bloodsuckers to a new point in history or with a new wrinkle we've never seen.
On the surface, I think this one qualifies, but we won't know for sure until January, of course. In the meantime, here's the new poster, which reminds me a good deal of Dark City, which isn't a vampire movie, but easily could have been.

The official release date is January 8th, and that's not a weekend to normally get excited about. Still, I'll give this one a chance.
