Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 7:22PM Foreign Language Oscar Submissions Announced
We've got the exhaustive official list of Best Foreign Language Film submissions for this year's Academy Awards. As you know, submissions are due in early October, and each country can pick one film for Oscar consideration.

It's not really the most fair system what if a country like Mexico, which has become one of the best exporters of film in the past decade, has three movies better than anything Croatia can come up with? It's not perfect, but I guess it's the most inclusive way to do it. I still believe the category should be Best International Film so that movies from small English-speaking film markets are on a level playing field with a country like China, which has a massive film industry. As I've said before: Are we honoring filmmaking or languages?
Here's the list of the 65 entries, courtesy of MovieWeb. Only five will be left standing when the nominations are announced.
