Friday, October 2, 2009 at 7:45PM Reynolds Says 'Green Lantern' Won't Shoot for Months
When The Green Lantern got moved from next December (a weird spot) to June 2011, it allowed director Martin Campbell a little more time to get it rolling the way it should. We're not talking about a modest budget that Warner Bros. hopes will catch fire. Oh no, this is in the $150 million ballpark, so it's got to be huge before it actually ever will be - The buzz has to drive the opening weekend to huge numbers.

One of the benefits of a delay is that it allows Ryan Reynolds to get all his ducks in a row, and he'll have plenty of time to do that. MTV quotes Reynolds as saying, "I'm four to five months away from beginning shooting."
One of the reasons for the overall delay is that the film can't shoot in Australia anymore, so new locations had to be scouted. So now, this one's tentatively set for New Orleans, or so I hear.
Still, that's a huge amount of time in today's market between the production and the release date; they'd really have to work (or perhaps, not work at all) to push this one to last until next summer, giving Campbell a year or more to put all the pieces together. But Reynolds won't give any details about the story or what else we might see come June '11.

"It's the only job I've ever had that I'm not allowed to really talk about. I think there's like a representative from Warner Brothers who I'm sure is following me around ready to blow-dart me if I say a single word. I probably have a chip in me somewhere, like if I start talking about it, I'll just pass away."
