Friday, October 2, 2009 at 7:40AM Sweet New Trailer for 'The Crazies' Remake
Though it's easy to look at Breck Eisner's previous film, Sahara and expect very little from his upcoming remake of The Crazies, this new trailer definitely has its put together put together.

The movie is based on a George Romero horror classic and while I have no idea how much money Romero has stashed away, I hope it's a lot. Nobody has worked as consistently in the horror genre as he has over the past 40 years, and he's influenced everyone who has followed him. Because of the budget here, we can expect this remake to have certain advantages of Romero's film, and putting Timothy Olyphant in the starring role is a good start.
Like a lot of films in the genre, it doesn't look like you'll have to do much thinking, and that's OK. As for this trailer, it's got a handful of memorable moments, which is a high percentage, and it's damn near excellent...until the predictable use of the song at the end.

Yeah, "Mad World" is great, but it's a little saturated at this point. Kind of burned out on it myself. Anyway, cool-ass trailer, I think, and The Crazies comes to theaters next February.

You're right about the song, overused, and not completely sure it fits the mood of the movie...
Hope it doesn't show the amount of blood the trailer somewhat hints towards, tired of "horror" movies being nothing but gore fests.
I really dug this trailer. I love Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell, and the original film was good but dated so I'm looking forward to seeing that they do with this.
Looks pretty good actually... Mad World is overused (thank Donnie Darko) but really fits, lyrics and mood, with this trailer which is well done.
Personallly I like the Crazies....they used my old farmhouse for some of the scenes. Tim is good looking and Rahda is better! Hope it goes well....I don't do horror.
