Angelina Might Wear 'Gucci' For Ridley Scott
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 6:04PM
Ridley Scott's attempt to break the land speed record for most projects in development at one time continues with Gucci, the director-producer's 22nd production announced but nowhere near theaters. Did I mention he turns 72 next month?

Gucci, as you might deduce, has a little to do with the fashion industry, but probably less than you'd think. In the mid-1990s, following a power struggle for the future of the company, Maurizio Gucci became the new head of the design house, but was shot and killed outside his apartment in Milan. The story took an uglier turn when his ex-wife, Patrizia, was convicting for plotting his murder.
Now Scott wants Angelina Jolie to play Patrizia, and Variety says Ridley has reached out to Leonardo DiCaprio, rather predictably, to play Maurizio. He's not attached yet, but then neither is she. Still, hard to imagine both of them turning down this chance. Have they ever worked together? Not as big, big stars, no, unless I'm completely blanking on something, and I don't think their paths ever crossed before they were household names. Interesting dynamic there, certainly.
When we get this movie might be the real story to watch. Althought The Spice of Life doesn't say Scott is directing, if he's this involved in the casting, I'd say it's a decent bet. And if he is directing, he has at least two films set to go before this, and maybe as many as four or five, depending on what happens with Monopoly and how long we have to wait for Brave New World.

geez, who does this guy think he is. i think you need a running list of his projects
Actually DiCaprio was originally the male lead in The Good Shepherd (2006), but he had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts. Matt Damon took the role instead. So DiCaprio and Jolie were gonna do a film together before.
