Details for 'Inglourious Basterds' DVD and Blu-ray
Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 11:53AM
Quentin Tarantino's monster hit Inglourious Basterds will be out on DVD just in time for Christmas; Universal, which co-distributed the film theatrically and apparently nabbed the lion's share of the coveted home video rights from Harvey Weinstein, has a December 15th release date lined up for the film.

That also puts Basterds back on the radar for end-of-the-year awards voting, too, especially in the four categories where it has a legitimate shot for nominations, like Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, and Supporting Actor (Christoph Waltz).
Skip the one-disc DVD and go for the two-disc edition, which has the same features as the Blu-ray. From DVD Active, here's the list of add-ons:
Extended and alternate scenes
Nation's Pride (the film within the film)
A Roundtable chat between QT, Brad Pitt, and critic Elvis Mitchell
Featurettes:
The Making of Nation's Pride
The Original Inglorious Bastards
Rod Taylor on Victoria Bitters - The Australian Beer
Quentin Tarantino's Camera Angel
A Conversation with Rod Taylor
Film Poster Gallery Tour with Elvis Mitchell
Digital copy of the film Unlike every other Tarantino film I can think of, the original home video release looks pretty loaded. With his Miramax films, you had to wait a few years to get goodies, so this is pretty extravagant by comparison.
