First Teaser for Nic Cage in 'Season of the Witch'

If nothing else, I like the attitude in the following short clip for Season of the Witch, an upcoming 14th century epic starring Nic Cage as a kinght who must essentially play a medieval version of Jason Statham's Transporter character, taking a suspected witch to a far-off monastery.

In the film, not that you'd get any of this from the 30 second you're about to see, the monks believe the witch is the source of the plague, which at the time was killing about 30% of Europe. It's not a concept I have any problem with, although you'll hear Nic Cage in full Nic Cage mode circa 1350, and that sounds waaaaay off.

I should also warn you, before you get your hopes up too high, that this movie is directed by Dominic Sena, whose latest flick, Whiteout was shelved for a long time and then had an embarrassing theatrical release last month. So, knowing that Season of the Witch is due in April of next year...don't buy your tickets yet. This one just might wind up back on the shelf for a while. But the video's better than the rest of this paragraph, so dig in:

Remember, kids - if she weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood. And therefore...a witch.

Looks like a cinematic version of Castlevania. I may be checking this out despite Nic Cage.

I was really hoping that maybe Nic Cage was going to be doing good offbeat movies after some early reviews of Bad Lieutenant. Work with good directors again. Oh well, back to the shit pile of the past ten years or so.
