Amanda Seyfried Ready for 'Mamma Mia 2'

It probably wasn't an eventuality before last summer, but once Mamma Mia! became one of the highest-grossing movies in the world in 2008, a sequel seemed pretty hard to avoid. For months and months, reporters would ask breakthrough performer Amanda Seyfried about a follow-up, and she said she didn't know anything. Now she knows something.

"I've been talking to some insiders and it's not something that they haven't been working on," she tells the BBC's Newsbeat. "I don't actually know anything other than that." But again, that's more than we had heard before.
There has also been a whisper or two about using another artist's music for the sequel, but Seyfried says that won't happen. "I know it's still going to be ABBA music, because what else would it be? Come on, I wouldn't do Mamma Mia 2 without Benny and Bjorn." I wasn't a fan of Mamma Mia!, and I really don't see how they're going to dig back into the ABBA vaults and find a movie's worth of compelling songs. Pretty much blew their Scandinavian wad the first time.
But the 23-year-old says she's looking forward to the opportunity to do it again, and claims Meryl Streep would come back aboard, too. So I assume once they get the music rights resolved, this will move forward. Screenplay? Well...the didn't exactly need that the first time to make about $600 million before DVD sales.
