Check Out the First Nine Minutes of ABC's 'V'

It worked for Battlestar Galactica, so let's see if ABC can follow that formula and give us a smart, unpredictable, and addictive new version of V. The network has developed some legitimacy among sci-fi fans with the success of Lost and Flash Forward, and there's little doubt the new V is trying to attract a lot of those same fans.

There was a slightly controversial decision late this summer when ABC delayed the debut of the series from September to November. A lot of talk centered on the show maybe not being up to snuff, but the other way to look at it is that ABC was saving the series until the sweeps period, which starts this week. It's not uncommon for a show to debut a little later in the season, or in the case of Lost, halfway through the damn season. Plus, with Flash Forward launching in September, ABC could conceivably be operating under the assumption that both sci-fi shows could establish themselves separately. Not a bad theory.
So here's the first nine minutes of V, which debuts a week from today. Looks like the pieces are all there, but can it turn into a massive hit? ABC needs more of those, so the leash could be a little longer for this one, given how much is invested in it.

It's a good time to be a fan of Sci-Fi, television-wise. Fringe, Lost, Flash Forward, V, and the Battlestar Gallactica spinoff Caprica all have my undivided attention. Strange and sad that Dollhouse gets left out in the rain in all of this, because there is plenty of room at the party.
Just not for Joss Whedon.
Looks expensive to shoot.
I hope it works out for them, I'll watch it if I see it on Hulu.
Will
there is always room at the party for Joss Whedon
Anon: Where I agree that Whedon paved the way for the current renaissance of Sci-Fi shows with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, and where he does indeed have an open invite to the party that is Comic-Con, his Dollhouse is a complete mis-fire in the wake of these other well-made, intriguing shows. There is room on my DVR for all of the aforementioned shows.
Just not Dollhouse.
Not anymore.
