Depp, Leo, Clooney All Potential Frank Sinatras

Several months ago, it was announced that Universal would make a Frank Sinatra bio-pic. The problem is that director Martin Scorsese apparently wants one actor to play Ol' Blue Eyes, the studio wants someone else, and Sinatra's daughter Tina wants a different leading man altogether. Something's gotta give.

According to The Guardian, Scorsese would like Leonardo DiCaprio, which is no surprise, Universal reportedly wants Johnny Depp, and that's no shock, while Sinatra thinks George Clooney is the way to go. That one is a bit of stretch, although he'd make a great Dean Martin. Now, the Clooney thing could be related to Ocean's 11 and all that, but Tina Sinatra, an executive producer on the project, wants Clooney because "she wants the movie to focus on music and not the violence, sex, and drinking."
Sure, there's no singing in the movie - because if you could find a guy who sings like Sinatra, he's probably already...Frank Sinatra - but a big flashing red light went off when I read that Tina Sinatra wants the movie to portray Frank as a good guy. Maybe he was around his kids, but there are a few too many stories that would waste no time contradicting that image. A sanitized Sinatra movie would be...what's the word...stupid?
If it's down to those three actors, Depp is the best actor and the bigger draw, although how weird is it that Clooney is the only Oscar winner of the three? You may not need the best actor for this role, though. It sounds as though the push will be more about capturing Sinatra's swagger and personality. In that case, Clooney might be the right choice. Of these three guys, anyway.

why is dicaprio in the convo and why isnt damon...im confused...
I had Damon on my list when this first came up. I think Leo is completely wrong for it.
Its only interesting if they show both sides.
Would anyone of watched Avaitor if it was just about Howard Hughes accomplishments? Its a compelling story because of the life he lived, all of it.
I hope they tell a real story, even a sugar coated one, but dont pretend the rest did not happen.
...But The Aviator didn't show all of his life. In fact, it left out a very compelling 30 years.
Wow the studio and writers better talk to this woman and explain her idea of how the film should go is dead wrong and wont do any buisness...
We want to see the truth but also all the rumors, scandals, and lies in his very complex fascinating life... I mean come on... I hope she wises up
I agree with Colin, LEO is horrible for this ughhh he would be just dead wrong for this role just dead wrong...
Clooney is a interesting idea, I mean I didnt think about it before but he has that charm and charisma/personality to pull it off....
But yes I do agree Depp is the greatest pick all around, he would be marvelous, but would he do it? I mean any body seeking some hardware would, but Depp is different and we all know that, who knows if he even likes his music??
