Yeah.
With the exception of one element used, I REALLY prefer the theatrical ending. This ending certainly feels more honest, but the theatrical ending gives the film a slight twist.

I think the one we see in theaters is the one that Dreamworks financed. It's much better than this alternate, or original, one is (IMO the ending was the best part of the movie).

I heard there is a third ending where Katie cuts her own throat after killing Micah. Apparently everyone hated that one, so they scrapped it after a few screenings.

There is one where she cuts her throat but they did take it out. This was the original one however I think it was Steven Spielberg that suggested the new ending (after he watched the original film), the one where she sniffs him and smiles at the camera and such.

the endind i seen was she came up coverd in blood sat on the floor rocking back and forth for sevral ours , till half 9 in the night , then you hear her sister come in shout her turn the lights on screams and runs out ! then 10 minutes later the police come shout and search the house see her rocking then she goes at them with a knife asking wheres mika ? then they shoot her there is so many endingd im confused

then one where she comes up and rocks then the cops come after her sister walks in, is true. the one where she lobs mikah across the room and then smiles at the camera is the ending made for cinemas. and another ending (made up) is where she kills him with his own special camera (lol) was not put on the film because it was too complicated and sick. three different endings. :)

For anyone who is confused about the endings

The ending that is meant to be shown here was the original ending and was shown in several theatres in America and the filmfestival, Katie is possessed stares over Mica then walks downstairs adn scream, Mica runs to help her, there is comotion then Katie comes back upstairs covered in blood and holding a butcher knife and sits rocking in a catonic state for about a day. Her friend comes in the house finds Mica's dead body and runs oout screaming, the police arrive later in the day and while this is happening the camera is always on Katie rocking. Then a light goes on in the attic (or cupboard i'm unsure) then off to show the demon has left Katie's body, she gets up and the police comes through telling her to drop the knife, she just says Mica. Then the door slams (presumably the work of the demon) and the cop gets a fright and accidentally shoots Katie.

The ending most people will have seen is the theatrical version, everything happens the same until after the comotion downstairs, it is silent for about 10 seconds then there are loud thuds as if something heavy is coming up the stairs; suddenly Micah's body is hurled at the camera (if you watch the trailer this can be seen at the very end) and the camera falls to the floor showing Katie standing in the doorway covered in blood, she walks to Micah bends over him and sniffs (or bites, i am unsure) him, then crawls to the camera, her face is demonic and she lunges at the camera. This ending was directed by Steven Spielberg who was very impressed by the film and after viewing it became locked in his bedroom and had to call a locksmith to let him out.

The third ending is similar to the first in the way Micah is dealt with however when she comes upstairs she moves toward the camera and (while not quite looking at the camera) slits her throat in one quick motion, then she stands for a second and as the demon leaves her body she falls dead to the floor. This was only shows in one or two screenings around America therefore not many people will have seen it. It is thought that it was changed becasue they felt the audience would be to shocked by it.

The first ending is preferred by many to the theatrical version as they feel it is more fittiing with the tone of the movie and the theatrical was only included to makethe film seem more fitting with hollywood stereotypes however others feel it is an anti-climax and the theatrical version is scarier. Through feedback it seems many people would prefer the throat cutting ending and due to demand it is thought the director is going to include all three ending on the DVD. Furthermore other ending were thought of and shot, one idea that was popular was th Katie corners Micah and bludgeons him with his own camera however it was never shot. It isn't thought that any endings except the three ones in this piece are going to be on the DVD

I think this movie is or was based on a movie from 2000 that was never released called 909 Experiment. The premise is very similar –take a look the trailer on youtube –very cool

I reckon that they should have had the current ending and then instead of the last bit where she attacks the camera she should start rocking while you see a shadow across the door, then the door slams shut and suddenly the Demon haunting her should become visible and kill her.

i saw the one with the cops too i didn't c it in theaters my friend gave me a copy that he had so i want to see the theatrical ending and the one where she slits her throat as well. where can i find these? i can't find any on the internet i hope they will b on the dvd release so i can rent it and see because i already have the one with the cops ending so i probably won't buy this one but i would rent it if it did have the endings

This ending (Katie rocking back and forth) would have killed the theatrical ending (where the body is thrown at the camera). I thought the theatrical ending ruined the entire atmosphere of the film - at no point during the film does it acknowledge that it's "a movie" - it's presented as if the video micah takes is not supposed to be seen by anyone but micah and Katie. By having Katie snarl at the camera, it acknowledges that the film is "entertainment" and it's completely out of 'character' (for want of a better word) for the film.
The rest of the film I loved but the final five seconds was an absolute travesty - if Spielberg directed the last little bit than he should be shot.
PS haven't seen the throat-cutting sequence but I think that would be the absolute perfect ending to the film. Bollocks to whether "audiences would find it too shocking" - it's a horror film, you're supposed to leave shocked. Compromising the end of a horror film to please studio execs and tone it down for audiences is lame, lame, lame, and I'm sure the writer-director was pissed off with the theatrical ending.

I now own the movie and it has all the endings, but on one website they said that one ending was where Katie courners Micah and beats him with the camara and you see the whole thing then it ends. I think all the other endings are fine they cut that one and i'm glad they did otherwise it would have gone overboard.

i have seen 2 endings.. 1st wen she get shot my police and 2nd wen she slits her throat.. ive herd theres four dont no wheather thats true!

so it took a few months but i have finally seen all 149 endings to this movie i lost my job and my wife left me but it was worth it my fav was the one where the monkey came and threw shit at the camera and through the blur of the shit you see mia fuck the monkey while his wife hoverd over like a creepoe and watched! this movie fucking sucked!
