Watch the Alternate Ending to 'Paranormal Activity'

Paranormal Activity will soon begin its international box office run. On Halloween, in fact, the movie will premiere in London, and Russia, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Latin America, Scandinavia, Australia, France, and Italy will all showcase the film by the first weekend in December.

That's when we'll really know how good the box office is; it's impossible to accurately gauge where it falls on the Most Profitable Films of All Time list because so far, we've only had domestic distribution to consider. What's interesting in this case is how many independent distributors have a lot to gain from the international release. For instance, if there's a sequel, Paramount controls all the international rights, so if it does great in Germany and the studio would really need to push another film in Japan, it could potentially scale back on the sequel's run in that country. Not so here: There are nearly a dozen distributors, all of whom will try to make as much as possible.

If you've seen the film, you know how it concludes. But there is an alternate ending. I would advise you not to watch this if you haven't checked out Paranormal Activity, but if you've already seen it...feel free:

Yeah.
With the exception of one element used, I REALLY prefer the theatrical ending. This ending certainly feels more honest, but the theatrical ending gives the film a slight twist.

I think the one we see in theaters is the one that Dreamworks financed. It's much better than this alternate, or original, one is (IMO the ending was the best part of the movie).

I heard there is a third ending where Katie cuts her own throat after killing Micah. Apparently everyone hated that one, so they scrapped it after a few screenings.

There is one where she cuts her throat but they did take it out. This was the original one however I think it was Steven Spielberg that suggested the new ending (after he watched the original film), the one where she sniffs him and smiles at the camera and such.
