Stallone Still Pushing 'Poe'

In a wide-ranging interview about his upcoming projects, Sylvester Stallone told Empire about plans for his Death Wish remake, the Cliffhanger update (he says he's got nothing to do with it), and perhaps most interestingly, a bio-pic about Edgar Allan Poe.

You can read about the other projects at Empire, but Stallone says he's serious about the Poe movie and that it is moving forward. "Of course, I'm not playing Poe," cautions the filmmaker you wouldn't pick out of a line-up of directors to make such a movie.

"'Yo, Poe!' It won't work," Stallone jokes about himself in the starring role. "It'll be some young actor because he dies at 39, but it's gonna happen."

I'm going to play casting agent here and give the role to the same guy who should play John Wilkes Booth if Spielberg ever makes that Lincoln movie: Jeremy Davies from Lost. He's a great actor and man, does he have a bunch of weird to spare. It would be difficult to see Davies taking direction from Stallone, but it's such a good role, potentially, that an actor would have to be frothing from the mouth staggering through the streets of Baltimore to turn it down.

Stallone doesn't give any status update on the project other than his "it's gonna happen" admission, but I'm certainly curious to see it. Can Sly pull it off? Who will catch his eye as the troubled poet and father of the modern mystery?

WOW what a film this could potentially be!!!

If done correctly with a great lead actor, conflict, and a great script with accuracy this can truly be an epic spectacular film...

Hey Colin your right on with the casting, Jeremy Davies would work great, but Im afraid his name isnt the biggest in Hollywood circle, but boy, if they went with a relatively unknown to film, HE WOULD BE THE MAN

I hope Sly Stone doesnt fuck this up, that would be bad and probably ruin his career, but Im still skeptical this will actually go down..
-I also wonder why he wanted to this out of everything he can do??? Why EAP?
