Zellweger to Put on Fat Suit for 'Bridget Jones 3'

You can probably hear the gasp of desperation from wherever you are, but as we reported a couple months ago, Renee Zellweger will return for a third Bridget Jones movie. Even though I'm a pretty harsh critic of romantic comedies, it's only because there are so few good ones, or even examples that show genuine heart and thought and aren't completely interchangeable with other movies in the genre. The first Bridget Jones is very good, loaded with good performances and more than its share of memorable scenes. The second one is a walk off a cliff.

So, there's something here that could work, theoretically. I mean, the series is batting .500, which if you're a glass-half-fuller, is something to build on. We certainly don't need another installment, but Zellweger's flagging career could use a boost. But if she were really serious, wouldn't she pack on the pounds again?
The Daily News quotes a source that told a British magazine, "Renee will be wearing a fat suit in the third film, as it took her a while to lose the weight last time." Adds the source, "She's also thinking about the effect quickly putting on and then losing 30 pounds has on her body."
Zellweger has said in the past that putting on and taking off the weight scares her, but since she's looked nearly malnourished for the past four years, why doesn't that sound an alarm? I'm not calling her a hypocrite, and I don't even think there's a need to put on 30 pounds, which is the number in question. I mean, Bridget could diet and Zellweger could compromise by adding ten pounds, right? But if the role is worth revisiting, I don't think a fat suit is the way to go. It's not like she's got to go full Bale here.
Presumably, the other principals are back on board for the threequel, but I haven't seen an official announcement about Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, or Jim Broadbent, or did Broadbent die in the second one? Couldn't blame him if he did, though I honestly don't remember.

What are they going to base this one on? An imaginary book? I know that they have groselly changed the movie, and the second one barely resembles the second book... but are they going to do a Jurassic Park 3 here?
Yes I agree she should try to put some weight on, and she still doesnt have to pull a Bale here, but an attempt would help her cause in my opinion...
Especially b/c she is fairly thin...but heyyy she might be thinking im getting older and roles are few and they dont want fat old women so I better just go with the suit..
