Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 8:08PM Ben Foster, Woody Harrelson in 'Messenger' Trailer
Every actor needs that big chance to show us something and even though Ben Foster has been very good in the past, so far, his best work has been in supporting roles. But with the Sundance entry, The Messenger, Foster finally has one of those showcase roles that could really help his stock rise.

To begin with, he's not just a lead in a heavy drama (about a soldier who is tasked with breaking the news to recently widowed Army wives and starts to have strong feelings for one of them), but he's supported by Samantha Morton and Woody Harrelson, and anytime you can give a great performance while other quality actors on in the scene, that's a big bonus. The recent poster made The Messenger look like a co-lead with Foster and Harrelson, but the trailer paints a different picture.
Also, how cool is the Willie Nelson version of "Amazing Grace"?

The Messenger finds its way into theaters on October 30th, and once the run expands to more than the usual suspects, we'll give you the updates.
