New Comedies Being Developed for Isla Fisher

Although the film whiffed at being a faithful adaptation of the source material or an entertaining alternative to it, Confessions of a Shopaholic at the very least gave us a whole lot of Isla Fisher, and Universal thinks we need more of her. The studio is developing two new star vehicles for Mrs. Borat, and she's adding a title to her business card to boot.

Fisher will star in and co-produce a comedy called Life Coach, in which a woman seeks out life advice from someone who ought not be dispensing any. On that film, she'll produce alongside the Gary Sanchez boys, who include Adam McKay and Will Ferrell.

The other movie might be closer to Fisher's specialty, however. She's set to star in a romantic comedy based on a French script that translates to Some Day My Princes Will Come. If you saw Definitely Maybe or even Shopaholic, you know that Isla can really be a home run hitter in that genre. Bright, funny, likable, very pretty...maybe the rom-coms aren't a final stop on her career track, but she should milk it while she can, I think, provided the material improves.

Fisher is also working on a couple films called Groupies and The Cookie Queen, as well as contributing her voice to the Gore Verbinski animated flick, Rango with Johnny Depp.

I could do with a bit more Isla Fisher. Pair her up with Amy Adams and make it good, I'd be all over that. Of course there will never be such a film as that but I can dream.
