Boy, there is just no mistaking that old hand-drawn Disney animation for anything else. If you don't believe me, check out the first five minutes from The Princess and the Frog, the new bayou-based 'toon that marks the studio's first foray into traditional animation for the first time in half a decade.

The story is, of course, not terribly original, but the familiar is part of what makes these movies so immediately accessible for children of all ages. This sample even contains a line about wishing on a star, which reflects fondly on the studio's past.
But this clip has something special, too: It's unfinished, so you can see almost in real time how one of these films is really put together. The early part of the clip is fully animated, and then it breaks down into various stages of the animation process. Pretty interesting to see how it all comes together.

The movie comes out on December 11th. Here's hoping it's just the beginning of a rebirth of the hand-drawn animation over at the House of Mouse.

Im going to see it because I do kinda want to see more handrawn movies for nostalgia sake. Cant say Im really against computer animation movies because they are actually pretty cool, but I do want to see more handdrawn ones too. My only critisism is that its the first movie with a black main character (even though many say Lion King is the first black Disney movie) and they turn her into a frog? I mean maybe if Disney didnt have the track record of racism that it does I wouldnt think so much of it but it does have that track record so it makes me wonder. Im still mad they cast Jake Gyllenhal as a "Persian" in Prince of Persia, one of my all time favorite games
