Ugh: Now Rebecca Romijn Wants an 'X-Men' Spin-off

You know, they really should have had a meeting with the whole X-Men cast to
explain to them that Origins movies aren't going to be happening for most of them. Sure, Wolverine.
Makes sense. Sure, Magneto, although that wouldn't be happening, I don't think, if Ian McKellen weren't so
brilliant in the role. But everyone else? We can negotiate, but the odds are we're not interested.

In the weeks after this summer's Wolverine, Halle Berry wondered why Storm doesn't get a spin-off.
Well, that's because she doesn't deserve one. And now - sigh - Rebecca Romijn-Stamos-O'Connell tells
Showbiz Spy that there ought to be more Mystique, too.
“If they talk to me in a year when I have worked off more of the baby weight, we’ll see, but I’ve still got
a couple of pounds to go,” says the new mother of twins. “It’s a great idea but no one’s talked to me about
it yet.”
A) No, it's not a great idea. B) We're not surprised nobody's talked to you about it yet.
There are still a few things to exploit from the X-Men storylines, and I mean exploit in a good way. But not every character in the Marvel Universe has that kind of potential. It's the same reason not every character on Cheers got his or her own show. Mystique would be like The Tortellis of the X-Men movies. I just compared Rebecca Romijn to Dan Hedaya. Well, somebody had to.
So, please, can we holster the spin-off talk on all the characters from the X-Men flicks?

This is pure win! Was there a time before all the superhero flicks that saw actors actively pimping themselves for lead roles in films that only exist in their heads? Let's get some real grist for the mill, Kevin Durand really deserves his own movie to chronicle just what happened in his life that he went from soldier boy to the Blob. I mean think about it, if we could get an emaciated Christian Bale in The Machinist we should be able to go in the absolute opposite direction. What with America's ever expanding waistline there's much more marketing potential and tie-ins to be had all across the smorgasbord!
I vote The Blob as a post Wolverine spinoff!
