Jackman Talks 'Wolverine' Sequel with Katie Couric

Time to give Hugh Jackman some credit: As long as I've heard him talk about Wolverine, his position has never changed. He loves the character, loves playing the character, and really wants to explore that Logan in Japan storyline. I think I even recall him saying something about that series of comics being his initial tie to the character back when he was younger, although it couldn't work in the X-Men movies.

So, even though the last two installments of his journey have not been great - they haven't been horrible, just not on the level of the first two - I still think he's good in each one of the movies and see no reason he shouldn't continue, simply because Wolverine has so much more story left and who else would make a good Logan at this point?

However, when he sat down to talk to Katie Couric recently, Jackman sounds like he's not going to commit to the Japan sequel just yet. Odd considering he's a producer, but whatever:

Incidentally, Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) was hired to write the sequel, and that's a pretty good sign, and it also indicates how serious Jackman appears to be about geting this one done right. Of course, we thought that about Origins...

The last two were horrible. Just stop now so we can get what we really want. Origin movies for Storm and Mystique!

I just wish Wolverine wasn't such a disappointment. They have so much source material about his origin story, why did they have to go and make a horrible movie? Lackluster action aside, the story was.... weak. And what the hell did they do with Gambit in that movie?
