Naomi Watts Named Most Bankable Actress

And the best investment for your leading lady dollar is...Naomi Watts? Well, there's irony. Her best friend, Nicole Kidman, has been ranked by Forbes as the biggest loser in terms of box office returns, but Watts was recently crowned by the magazine as the actress who affords studios the greatest ROI.

For every dollar Watts is paid, her past three films have grossed $44. The rules are that the actresses must have starred in at least three movies in the past five years that opened in at least 500 theaters. Therefore, King Kong and Eastern Promises make up for The Painted Veil and The International, which weren't profitable at all.

Forbes says, not surprisingly, that Watts works cheap. Given her talent, I'd say that's true. She has one Oscar nomination already (21 Grams), and has been very good over the years, even when the movies are only so-so.

The full top ten has a few surprises, both in terms of the biggest values and actresses you'd probably think earned more per picture, which is certainly a factor when compiling a list like this. We'll rank them with the corresponding amount returned for every dollar spent on their services:

I get the impression she does work cheap too, not very in the limelight...but whatever

Well just about every actress on that list is currently a top notch actress in terms of the craft, EXCEPT the dreaded Jennifer Aniston, I mean how the hell is she on there, who likes watching her films? Pleasssseee

Its funny you say Aniston is the worst on the list, because I think the same of Swank. Atleast Aniston has some appeal. Swank looks like a horse trying to lick the peanut butter off its gums.

As for Naomi Watts being #1, I couldn't agree more. She has been in a lot of great films as of recent, and in the past, her range has been very open (Tank Girl in particular, as Jet Girl). She's very attractive, a great actress, and can pull off even the crapiest of material, and maybe not save the movie, but atleast her part!
