Friday, October 9, 2009 at 10:12AM 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' Coming Back in 3-D
Could a Jigsaw vs. Leatherface movie be far away? Well, yes, probably. But such a beast now merits consideration if not discussion upon the news that Twisted Pictures, the producers of the Saw franchise, are about to scavenge the rights to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre away from Platinum Dunes.

As expected, Twisted will likely run future Leatherface flicks through Lionsgate, giving that studio the potential for either two concurrent horror series or a replacement for Saw when that franchise comes to end, currently rumored to be after Saw IX. According to Variety, Platinum Dunes engaged rights holers Bob Kuhn and Kim Henkel in talks for individual films, the way the property had been handled since its rebirth a few years ago. When those discussions stalled, Twisted pitched a multiple movie scenario.
The next film in the series will reportedly be a contemporarized 3-D affair, which could be fun or a complete waste of time. As I've said many times this year, the 3-D My Bloody Valentine is both good, gory horror fun and a fine example of live-action 3-D. So it's possible it could happen again. Dim hopes, but it's possible.
There's no timetable immediately available (and the deal hasn't been completely finalized), but we're probably at least 18 months from a new Leatherface movie. Twisted probably won't want to compete with Saw next fall, which should push any future Texas Chainsaw movie to spring 2011, although it's conceivable it could jump into the end of next summer if the details are worked out quickly. I wouldn't hold my breath, though, since there's obviously no writer or director at this point.
There is also no indication as to whether this film we be another reboot or a continuation of the Platinum Dunes series, but my money's on the reboot.

NOOOOO !!!! NOT ANOTHER TEXAS CHAINSAW ......PLEASE DON'T DESTROY LEATHERFACE !!
They already destroyed MICHAEL MYERS with HALLOWEEN 2 .....But NO LEATHERFACE PLEASE !!
Halloween classic from 1978 has been destroyed by Rob Zombie. Hollywood is on a remake frenzy right now And there on a sequel frenzy. making a sequel to almost every movie is utterly ridiculous. Unlimited Halloween movies was a lot of fun cause the franchise is legendary but in one way or another Micheal has to be killed off finally because Halloween 3,6 and 8 were just dumb. Halloween H20 was my favorite and very promising but to some who never watched the franchise this can look like Halloween 20 which would be the 20th film which it was only the 7th film. 20 idintefied that it was 20 years later as from first halloween from 1978 to 1998 return of laury strode.
The texas chainsaw massacre is a legendary franchise that deserves a legendary treatment. If in fact they were to do another film, please by the powers of god make it a sequel to the original texas chainsaw massacre series. Several people were upset with the remake and several more people were upset with the prequel. I honestly do not feel like they've finished the original story. It seems like after the 3rd film we didnt get anything that told us what happened to Leatherface. In the first he was exposed along with his family as a cannibal serial killer, in the second he was pursued by a cop and severly injured, and in the third they seemed to have left him with no family left and a kind of prehistoric revenge motif on his mind. Then we were given the "semi" remake (its still a remake hollywood) which barely anyone has seen and barely anyone else cared for. After that a proper remake was done that doesnt really stand out today along with its prequel as anything but a rape of the original and an utter failure as a movie in a whole that is hated by the texas chainsaw massacre fan base almost as much as Next Generation. I do not feel another remake or another sequel in the remake's continuity would do this series justice. If you read these articles Twisted Pictures, Kim Henkel and Tobe Hooper, please know that what people really want is a proper Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4 and in 3D, I'm sure it would be great as long as you've got the proper story done.
AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSS!!! i LOVE TCM series especially the latest one :D CANT WAIT
Nooo, not 3-D!
