Fanfrickintastic New Trailer for 'Kick-Ass'
Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 9:14AM
Yeah, this one's going to rule. Studios were scared to death of Mark Millar's Kick-Ass when director Matthew Vaughn started shopping the comic book adaptation around, so much so that Vaughn had to finance the movie himself because nobody else would take the risk.

Then Comic Con came around and the film was showcased in kind of an extended trailer. The result? Kick-Ass was the biggest out-of-nowhere surprise and one of the most talked about movies at the entire geekfest. Suddenly, the studios saw the error of their ways and pitched their best offer to Vaughn, who finally accepted a deal with Lionsgate, which could make him a very rich man.
The film is opening at a great time of the year, it's not going to be confused with anything else, and you can't watch this trailer and think you're going to be the least bit bored. Yeah, I'm genuinely excited for this one and that simply doesn't happen very often.

Kick-Ass opens April 16th, and I think it could do very well for those three weeks before the Iron Man sequel. It's opening opposite MacGruber, the SNL movie, and I think it will absolutely bury it.
