Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 3:19PM Fox Officially Cancels 'Dollhouse'
We've been on a death watch for Joss Whedon's Dollhouse for over a month. The good news is we can now devote our attention to something else. The bad news, at least for about a million people, is that Fox has officially canceled the struggling sci-fi show.

The Hollyood Reporter picked up a Tweet from Dollhouse writer Maurissa Tancharoen, who is married to Jed Whedon. "Yes. Canceled. Sad but true," she wrote. And that pretty much says it all.
The show still has two more episodes to film in its 13-week order for Fox, and Whedon is said to be giving the show a big send-off. Curiously, because the show is not on the November sweeps schedule - which we pointed out was probably as sure a sign as anything that Dollhouse was basically over - there's still two months of programming left for the show. At least that's how many episodes they'll have in the can.
We do know the show will be back on the air beginning December 4th, and the countdown begins from there.
Dollhouse was a very close to not making it onto Fox' fall schedule after a pretty lackluster debut season. The newtork was hoping its DVR numbers, abnormally high, would justify the expense of shooting every episode and the low ratings, but it didn't work out that way; reruns of House in the same Friday time slot have consistently outperformed Dollhouse.

Oh well. Maybe we can get a Dr. Horrible sequel a little faster now.
This is sad news. I'm not sure how I'm going to tell the wife. But we'll get through it somehow... Some... Way...
At least I got to hear it from a friend.
Thanks Big Sexy.
