'Moon' DVD and Blu-ray Artwork and Details

You probably didn't expect the DVD and Blu-ray artwork for this year's paranoid sci-fi flick, Moon, to look much different than the posters. And it doesn't, although I invite you to click on Sam Rockwell to see the Blu-ray cover, which comes complete with a couple critic quotes.

What you might be more interested in is the release date for Moon, which has just been announced. Thanks to DVD Active (where the Blu-ray artwork came from), the film will be available on January 12th. The DVD will run you $28 (suggested retail) and the Blu -ray goes for $38. I hope it finds a better life on home video than it did in theaters, where it only made $7 million worldwide. Too bad you can't put it on your holiday wish list.

Bonus features include a commentary with writer-director Duncan Jones and his tech crew (cinematographer Gary Shaw, production designer Tony Noble, and concept designer Gavin Rothery, plus a second commentary in which Jones is joined by producer Stuart Fenegen. Four featurettes also highlight the added stuff: The Making of 'Moon,' Creating the Visual Effects, Science Center Q & A with Director Duncan Jones, and Filmmakers' Q & A at the Sundance Film Festival.

Some of our readers have held out hope that Moon might have some awards in its future, but that won't happen for any of the major awards, though it could wind up on critics lists, I suppose. I loved the movie, minus a couple small objections. You can check out the review here, and again, you can check out the DVD or Blu-ray in January.
