Video - Hudson, Cruz in 'Nine' Musical Numbers

Upfront, let's apologize for the video quality here. Both of these clips were taken from TV broadcasts, so they're not the highest quality. Hopefully we'll get better versions of these, and more clips just like them, before Nine opens in theaters next month.

Two of the half-dozen supporting actresses in the upcoming Rob Marshall musical, Kate Hudson and Penélope Cruz, are featured in new song-and-dance numbers from Nine. They're not complete songs, unfortunately, but you can get the vibe of what's going on in each of them. As he did with Chicago, Marshall has staged these musical numbers to be distinctive, to make them cinematic, and that's really one of the keys when adaptating a stage musical.

On the Kate Hudson clip ("Cinema Italiano"), you'll have to endure that schlub from Entertainment Tonight, but at least it's not Mary Hart:

The year's big musical opens on December 18th, but we'll get an idea of whether or not it's a contender or a pretender well before that.
