Danny Boyle Wants Cillian Murphy for '127 Hours'?

Director Danny Boyle's next film will be the story of mountaineer Aron Ralston, famously trapped during a solo expedition for five days and left with no other alternative but to cut off his own arm to escape the situation. It's called 127 Hours, and there was talk Boyle was interested in Ryan Gosling for the role, but now he has apparently shifted his focus to a more known quantity.
News of the World says Boyle's 28 Days Later and Sunshine star, Cillian Murphy, is now the top choice to land the coveted role. I don't know where they got that information or if it's reliable, but I have little doubt that Murphy can bring about as much desperation and emotion to the role as Gosling could, so if it comes down to either actor, that's not a bad problem to have.
Murphy should have been a bigger star by now, and I take it he'd prefer not to be. Almost without exception, Murphy steers away from easy roles, and even his higher profile efforts like Batman Begins and Inception for Christopher Nolan offer him a chance to explore a character first and foremost.
Still, it's a bit disconcerting that a guy like Murphy hasn't really had one of his quieter indie flicks take off and establish him more firmly. I thought Ken Loach's The Wind That Shakes the Barley - a Palme D'Or winner - would do the trick, but it barely got released in the US.
So if it does happen, starring in a film by a recent Oscar-winning director about a story that's pretty familiar to a lot of Americans could be a building block for Murphy, especially since this is part of Boyle's agreement with Fox Searchlight, meaning it will likely get an Oscar push for whomever is in the lead role.

Just asking, where do you get these pictures? A lot of them are cool and interesting like this one.
I don't know where I got this one. I found it a while ago but had never used it before.
I read about this too on playlist, I dunno if it will happen however, I mean Gosling does look like the real life person Aron Ralston a lot more....but hey what does that matter...
Cillian should honestly take this role if it is handed to him, I mean this could really establish him in the film industry, and up his profile which he may not want, but in reality as an artist you should want b/c it will lead to bigger and better projects of more interest...
He has worked with Boyle before so thats a huge plus, I dunno both actors I admire and either one will be great who knows what will happen....
"he has apparently shifted his focus to a more known quantity." is really C. Murphy a more kown quantity? compared to Ryan Gosling? to The Believer Ryan Gosling? are we talking about the same guy in Half Nelson? you've got to be kidding me,
He's a more known quantity to Danny Boyle, yes, since they've worked together twice already.
