Monday, November 2, 2009 at 5:45PM Trailer - 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time'
Looks good, sounds...not quite as good. There's a new Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time trailer - and we'll probably get a higher quality one soon enough - and the action is expectedly Bruckheimered. But there's an awful lot of exposition in this trailer, and I don't think I've noticed in a while the ubiquitous British accents in non-Western epics quite as much as I do here. Overall, I'd prefer a lot more shutting up.

Putting all of that aside, it definitely looks like a movie that belongs smack dab in the middle of summer. You probably won't have to think hard at all and it should sell plenty of popcorn. I have plenty of confidence in Jake Gyllenhaal to pull this role off, although I wish they hadn't gone with an American at all for this film and given him, I dunno, Jack Ryan or something instead.
Again, I would suspect we'll get a better version soon, so you can see all those visual effects in their high definition glory.
I bet this one will be tough to beat on Memorial Day weekend. Well, if Dinsey ever figures out how to promote its movies, that is.

Popcorn tastic.
It looks like a promising movie based on games. If producers would be able to get a good director and scriptwriter, game inspired movies will be a trend. Oh well, if that happens I'll be having a good reason to take a break from grinding aion kinah or joining raids.
This is an obvious game adaptation. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is directed by Mike Newell, the respected director of Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire, Four Weddings and A Funeral, Mona Lisa Smile, Donnie Brasco, Love in the Time of Cholera, and he is not afraid of using fine quality CGI effects and creating strong action scenes. This entertaining video game adaptation with its interesting story is written by Boaz Yakin, a successful and indie writer who stunned the audience with his Fresh and The Punisher and the co-writer is Doug Miro we know from The Uninvited and The Great Raid.
Thanks for your review, putting all of that aside, it definitely looks like a movie that belongs smack dab in the middle of summer. You probably won't have to think hard at all and it should sell plenty of popcorn.
