Worthington Witnesses 'Last Days of American Crime'

Missing out on Mad Max 4 and being replaced in The Tourist by Johnny Depp, Sam Worthington is going back to where his bread is buttered, signing up for the sci-fi thriller The Last Days of American Crime. It comes on the heels of high profile roles
in Terminator Salvation and Avatar, both squarely in the science fiction realm, as well as next year's Clash of the
Titans.

"Set in the not-too-distant future," writes The Hollywood Reporter, Rick Remender's comic book The Last
Days of American Crime "involves the U.S. government's plans to secretly broadcast a signal that makes it impossible for anyone
to knowingly commit unlawful acts."
Thought police? Always a fertile harvest in the world of science fiction. Interestingly enough, for a guy with a career on the rise,
this offering seems decidedly under the radar. Radical Comics, the publisher of the upcoming series (it arrives in stores next
month), hasn't been around all that long and it doesn't have a large number of titles. However, the company's Barry Levine, who will
produce this film, was part of the comics-to-film team at Dark Horse prior to launching Radical.
Sounds like it could be a pretty cool flick, though, based on the descriptions of the three-series comic book. It isn't made clear
whether the film will address the story contained within all three comics of if this is the first movie of what turn into a series.
There's no studio yet, so it's unlikely a production company would commit to three films on its own, especially before the comics
have even been released.
