'Kull' Conquers Again

It would not be easy for any Kull the Conqueror movie to fall short of the level of quality of the 1997 Kull movie, which, as I hope you'll recall, was cashing in on Sorbomania. On the plus side, it does answer the age-old question of what a movie with Kevin Sorbo, Tia Carrere, and Harvey Fierstein might look like.

But with Conan and Solomon Kane coming to theaters, surely someone in Hollywood will put the pieces together and figure out what we really need is more Robert E. Howard spin-offs. Because Kull is also part of the Howard catalog, here it comes again.

Paradox Entertainment has pushed forward with acquiring the rights to the project, according to Coming Soon, which also has a brief synopsis of the Kull storyline:

"Native to Atlantis, Kull grows up with his family in Tiger Valley until a flood wipe his clan out. Another clan bring him up, but he stands up for a woman destined to burn alive and ends up banned from Atlantis. He sails for the continent and take up the mercenary way. He'll become king, just as Conan will do thousands of years later. Under his influence, Valusia ends up as the most powerful kingdom of the time."

Even though the 1997 flick was bad, please don't confuse Kull with the nearly-as-bad 80s movie, Krull, memorable at this point for featuring a young Liam Neeson. That was a little like Excalibur meets aliens. I know: Hard to believe that movie didn't rewrite history. Now, if they remake Krull, we'll know we're really in trouble.

Thing is, though: according to this

no-one is really asking themselves this question. They want a different Kull, but preferably with the same, good old Sorbo.
