With Precious hitting its stride in theaters - another $11 million this weekend to take its domestic total to twice its production cost with plenty more to go - Lionsgate is going on the offensive with its awards marketing. There's very little doubt that it will be among those films in the running for all the goodies in a few months.
There's a new poster that emphasizes how well Lee Daniels' film is doing with critics, an important first step to putting the film in the minds of Academy voters beseiged with screener copies of dozens and dozens of movies. It's not as aesthetically pleasing as the first poster, maybe, but it's still pretty memorable.
