Trailer - The New Exploitation Flick 'Bitch Slap'

I don't remember when I first saw something about Bitch Slap. It seems like a year ago, maybe. But indie films - real independent movies - often take circuitous paths to theaters because they lack the funds to roll it out in the marketplace or exhibitors are cautious to take a risk on a movie that doesn't have studio support or whatever it is.

So now, Bitch Slap will finally open in the US on January 8th. And as you might guess from the title, it's not exactly Jane Austen. According to the official synopsis, "Bitch Slap is a post-modern, thinking man's throwback to the B Movie/Exploitation films of the 1950s - 70s as well as a loving, sly parody of the same."

It sure does have shades of Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill, as you will no doubt pick up from watching the most recent trailer:

Yeah...I dunno. I mean, it can't possibly be worse than Hell Ride, one of the more recent flicks along these lines, a Taranti-faux action flick with plenty of dry comedy (ostensibly). But it doesn't look very special to me.

This looks like garbage. That's the problem with these type of mocking B-movies, you need to have at least one good actor in it for anyone to take it serious as a mocking sort of thing, otherwise everyone just thinks it's someone making a bad movie. Too bad Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner weren't willing to sign on. I'd see that one.
